The finishes below are some of the different type of finishes that may be available on certain Elbin Art products. For many different Elbin Art products, a customer can select the finish they would like when they order the product. It is important to note that different finishes CANNOT be combined or mixed on a product due to compatibility issues and/or possible safety concerns.
It is important to note that the products listed ARE NOT recommendations by Elbin Art for other wood product makers or individuals to use on their own products or for items someone is looking to finish on their own. It is important to contact the manufacturer(s) of any product prior to using a product to see if it is right for whatever you are looking to finish as well as the application. The below is only for reference for a customer looking to purchase an Elbin Art wood product and the following is NOT to be used as a guide or recommendation for any wood item other than an Elbin Art product.
Each Elbin Art Wood Product made after April 2022 will have a Finish Code on it so that a customer can look up exactly what finishes, glues, paints, etc., was used on that particular product which may be different for each individual product and/or application.
Items made prior to April 2022, will have had different type of finishes as well as manufacturers than the ones listed below depending on the product. Products used prior to April 2022 may have been one or more of the following: Tried and True Polymerized Linseed Oil Varnish Java Stain, Tried and True Traditionnel Polymerized Linseed Oil/Beewax, Tried and True Danish Oil Polymerized Linseed Oil, Tried and/or True Polymerized Linseed Oil/natural pine resin. Products such as barrel staves may also have had ZINSSER Bulls Eye Shellac Spray and/or Polyurethene in addition to the Tried and True Java stain. If you have an Elbin Art product made and/or purchased prior to April 2022 and have a question regarding the finish it may have, contact Elbin@ElbinArt.com. Some products manufactured prior to April 2022 may have been stained, or not stained or with a different final coat type of product dependent on the product or when it was made. If your product was made prior to April 2022 and it needs to be refinished, please do not try to refinish it yourself or fix the finish yourself. The penetrating quality of food-grade mineral oil brings out the depth of grain in wood and helps prevent drying and cracking. The mineral oil is safe for food preparation surfaces.

Please note that Elbin Art does not make any glasses or any of the hardware on the wood products (openers, clocks, candles, metal handles, screws, bolts, hooks, etc.). Elbin Art makes many wood products that hold/display coins, poker chips, etc. and while Elbin Art also sells some coins (not made by Elbin Art) those coins are sold/shipped separately.
While Elbin Art does offer custom laser engraving on certain Elbin Art wood products, Elbin Art will not do any laser engraving of company logos unless the customer has provided written permission from the particular company. Elbin Art does not do any laser engraving of any College logos, Pro sports team logos or military logos as they are copyright protected and Elbin Art currently does not have a license from those organizations to use their logos for engraving. Elbin Art does not do engraving on glasses, etc.
Some standard Elbin Art wood products may have engraving/inlay where the graphics used for the engraving or inlay may not have been developed by Elbin Art. In those particular cases, Elbin Art paid for the use of those graphic designs from graphic designer and based on the graphic design seller's guidelines (which may vary on a case by case basis). While Elbin Art may have purchased the clip art for use on a Commercial product, Elbin Art does not own the copyright for the clipart - the graphic designer owns the copyright. DO NOT copy any of the graphics for personal or commercial use as you must pay for the use of the artwork from the graphic art seller. Some graphic art seller guidelines may or may not require recognition of their work however Elbin Art will always list who the graphics was purchased from for the piece regardless if recognition is required or not for a few reasons - Elbin Art is not taking credit for graphics that was not made by me, give credit to the graphics designer that did the work and reinforce that Elbin Art takes copyright/trademark laws seriously.
