RECLAIMED WHISKEY/WINE BARREL STAVE PRODUCTS

While Elbin Art now uses different lumber for some products, he still makes some products using reclaimed wine and whiskey barrel staves.  Whiskey and Wine barrel staves require a lot of work and time to get it into the condition that Elbin requires for finished products.  

• A reclaimed barrel stave is curved so there are limitations on what can be made as well as tools utilized to make products.  
• Depending on the age and type of reclaimed barrel stave, it may take multiple sanding to expose the beautiful grain of the wood.  Reclaimed Whiskey barrel staves typically take more sanding than wine barrel staves due to the age and condition of the barrel staves.  

As with all Elbin Art wood products, Elbin Art tries to use as much of a piece of wood as possible so there is very little waste.  Left over pieces of a barrel stave that may have been used to make a key or coat rack, may then be made into wall mount bottle openers, business card holders, etc. therefore using as much of the reclaimed stave as possible. 

All Elbin Art Reclaimed Wine/Whiskey barrel stave products are first stained with a Java color stain (unless a separate finish or natural finish is specifically requested by a customer).  Staining the stave with the Java stain gives each piece a nice darker look and if the barrel stave is made from quarter sawn wood, it highlights the patterns.  After staining, two other finish type of products are applied (separately) allowing for proper curing times between all three products giving the finished pieces a beautiful look. 

Availability and lead times of The Elbin Art Quarter Sawn Wood Collection products depend on current Elbin Art reclaimed Barrel Stave inventory.  While there may be a minimal amount of Elbin Art finished reclaimed barrel stave products on hand (depending on product), the majority of products are made to order.   The lead time is typically 2-4 weeks, depending on the product.  Contact Elbin at Elbin@ElbinArt.com if you have any questions regarding lead-times.  

For some of the reclaimed barrel stave products, Customers can select which type of reclaimed barrel stave (wine or whiskey) they would like for the product at checkout.  Please note that the product shipped will differ in grain patterns then the sample product photos as each piece's grain patterns will be different.  No two grain patterns are alike.
